How we protect your data, keep your communications private, and what to do if something doesn't feel right.
Proxio connects customers with independent local providers. We take reasonable steps to verify providers and protect your information, but we encourage you to use good judgment and read this page before your first booking.
Your personal data
We collect only the information needed to run the platform — your name, email address, and any profile details you choose to add.
Passwords are hashed using industry-standard one-way encryption and are never stored in plain text. Even our team cannot read your password.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third-party advertisers or data brokers.
You can update your email address and password at any time from your Dashboard under the Account tab.
When your contact details are shared
Your phone number and address are only visible to a provider when you have an active booking with them. They are not displayed on your public profile.
Provider contact details (phone, address) are similarly protected and shown only to customers with an active booking.
If you choose not to add contact details to a booking, communication can happen through the in-platform messaging system.
Messages sent through Proxio are private between you and the provider. We do not read or share them.
Communicating safely
Use the in-platform messaging system for all initial conversations. This keeps a record and avoids sharing personal contact details too early.
Be cautious of anyone asking you to move the conversation to a different platform, pay outside the booking system, or share sensitive financial information.
Never share passwords, bank account details, or ID documents through the messaging system.
Legitimate providers will not ask you to pay in advance via wire transfer or gift cards.
Before and during a booking
Check the provider's profile thoroughly before booking — look at their rating, number of completed jobs, portfolio photos, and verified reviews.
Read reviews from previous customers, particularly for similar jobs. The "Verified Hire" badge confirms the reviewer actually completed a booking with that provider.
For work inside your home, let someone else know the appointment details and the provider's name.
You are never obligated to proceed with a booking if you feel uncomfortable — you can decline or cancel before the work begins.
Reporting a concern
If a provider behaves inappropriately, sends harassing messages, or asks for payment outside the platform, please contact our support team immediately.
If you believe a review is fake, incentivised, or violates our policies, contact support and we will investigate.
We take all reports seriously. Reports are handled confidentially and do not affect your ability to use the platform.
In an emergency, always contact your local emergency services first.
Keeping your account secure
Use a strong, unique password for your Proxio account that you do not use on other sites.
If you think your account has been compromised, change your password immediately from the Account tab in your Dashboard.
We will never ask for your password by email, phone, or message.
Log out of shared devices after using the platform.
